Berlin | 2015

Tempelhof Airport, designed by architect Ernst Sagebiel and built between 1937 and 1941, was considered the largest building in the world when it was completed. The lobby with its enormous height looks monumental and has its own aesthetic quality. I have tried to reproduce this quality with my photo series Central Airport.

On June 1, 2011, Berlin-Tempelhof Airport was honored as a historic landmark of engineering architecture in Germany. It is the tenth building in the Federal Republic to receive the title, which has been awarded since 2007.
