Berlin from Space

Bild: Colonel Chris Hadfield, Nasa.

This photo was taken by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who photographed Berlin from the International Space Station ISS.

His snapshot, taken in 2013 from a height of about 320 kilometers above the earth, clearly shows the course of the former wall, which is expressed by the difference in street lighting between the former east and west. Berlin's 43,000 yellow sodium vapor lamps will gradually disappear as the city aims to become climate neutral by 2050.

The three Berlin airports can also be clearly seen: Tegel in the north, Tempelhof Central Airport in the middle and Schönefeld in the south.

A great gift, not only for Berlin fans.

About Studio Palmeri

This work is part of the Studio Palmeri collection. A collection of images created in cooperation with other artists: Sometimes I discover a motif by another artist that appeals to me. I then use this photo as a basis to create a completely new work through extensive image editing and adjusting the colors, the image section and sometimes even individual elements.
